Horrible 100 Ride this Past Weekend in Cleremont…

This was my first experience with this type of ride because up until then I had only done one Sprint Triathlon in April and the biking part of a Sprint Tri a couple of weeks ago.

The past month since I decided to to this ride I had been training on what I thought were hills to get me ready for this Horrible 100 ride and I thought I was pretty ready since I had no problems riding all the hills and over passes around here…boy was I wrong!

The longest ride in one day I had done was just over 50 miles so I decided to choose the 70 mile option for a little challenge…

The first few hills were easy because they were very spread out but then after about 10 miles into the ride the hills started coming more frequently and were getting bigger and longer…

I had kept on hearing about this “Sugarloaf” hill that was really hard and when I finally got to it I realized why everyone said that… it was the hardest climb I have ever done but I was proud of myself for not getting off the bike and walking up like so many people were doing

All in all it was a great time and a big challenge for anyone looking for a fun, challenging ride in Florida
